TDA-DC Chapter Meeting Said Transformative

It was a moment of honest talks, trouble shooting, solidifying and moral boosting.

The meeting was held and concluded on August 20, 2006 at Blackburn Center in Howard University. The event was honored by the presence of Ambassador Tewolde Gebru, director of Tigray Development Association International, TDA-I.

After brief report on the activities of the three month old committee was heard, participants did not waste time to focus on finding ways to boost the energy of the executive committee. It was decided to broaden and reshuffle the leadership so that it assumes an effective posture to implement the short term projects of raising funds to build four schools in the remotest parts of rural Tigray. Accordingly, replacements and additions were made to the previous committee. The TDA-DC chapter is now well set to finalize the project and go beyond.

The meeting was much highlighted and surprised by the big pledge by Ato Hailetsadik Woldu. Haile offered his generous challenge: "if the DC community builds the four schools as promised, I will build the fifth one myself alone" (cheering applauses).

Ambassador Tewolde gave answers and explanations to various questions and concerns raised by participants.

It is, indeed, a rare occasion to witness a single meeting becoming so decisive and transformative.
