A Brief Observation by: Yared (November 29, 2002) While I was reading the Ethiopian government’s main News Paper “Addis Zemen” a few days a go, I came across a surprising statement. The paper praises the Ethiopian government for informing the International community about the present drought but blasts the world for not extending its helping hands for drought victims on time. What baffles me here is whether “Begging” has gradually become a normal thing to do and not as some thing to be embarrassing for the country. Zenebe G. Tamirat, Ex-Central Committee Member of the now updated AAPO Mr. President, I am writing this letter to appeal to you to call off your planned meeting with Meles Zenawi, Prime Minister of the dictatorial regime of the EPRDF that is brutalizing and terrorizing the people of Ethiopia since its seizure of power in mid 199l. By Dr. G Bekele (November 29, 2002) I READ many Articles with horror of my countrymen; women and children starve to death in Ethiopia. Ethiopia’s plight is not as bad as the world thought or Meles’s lip service tries to fool us. It is much worse. UNMEES’s Apology, Hypocrisy or Disingenuous Repentance Regarding the Deliberately Distorted Incidents in the Irob Region’s Disputed Borders? By the Reverend Abba Tesfamariam Baraki - An Irob-Ethio-American Citizen Washington, D.C., USA "The people who are handling this peace process are human beings ... Once in a while there will be mistakes." [Ambassador Legwaila Joseph Legwaila, SRGS (UNMEE)] Introduction: Critical Analysis of the Issue and the Irob Response By Bezabih As the new political adventures of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi unfold, the economic renewal has been primed to supplement the political renewal. He is devising a way to diffuse the general perceptions of economic injustices. At the present time, the prime minister seems to embark on a new policy, which he thinks could be acceptable, as fair and impartial. The grievance of the population, the firmness of IMF, World Bank, the United States and the European Union on fair and impartial economic opportunity to all the population segments seems to influence him to jump on the economic renewal band wagon. [Source: Addis Tribune] FROM: The Upper Committee of the Merha Senai High School in Ahseha Wereda RE: Construction of a High School in Ahseha and How You Can Help Date: October 10, 2002 We all know that education is key and the purpose of our solicitation is for you to assist the young residents of Ahseha become self-sufficient members of society by constructing a high school they can attend, which will benefit us all. Our plan to help construct a high school in Ahseha must be methodical and well planned involving both the government and average citizens of Ahseha. A Call To Action To All Ethiopians Another disaster is yet looming in the horizon in our country. On top of the devastating HIV/AIDS epidemic and the abject poverty in the country, the prospect of the latest famine is hard to contemplate. We have rallied before to save our country from the danger caused by ShaEbia’s aggression. The Human Rights Committee of TISJD By Tolossa Gofta Kassane, Ph.D. United Kingdom, November, 11, 2002.
