Emergency Update
Walta Information Center (WIC): the Trojan horse of Melles? By Tsegay B.
Most Ethiopians were surprised in hearing the internal conflict prevailing in the TPLF leadership. It has pulled a big surprise in our daily life. We tried to build some scenario based on speculations, rumors, and some broadcasters. We have hoped on some miracles to come, solve everything and rescue EPRDF and defeat the Eritrean regime for once and for all. Nevertheless, we are having developments (not expected) by each day. Though we may have different sources of information depending on our access to all or censored media, it is about two months since we have talked about it.
Meles's coup d'etat - Quoreta by Bonapartism (Part II)
by X-TPLF member, Mulugeta Leul, in memory of May 28, 01
"Most of what I wrote in Part I (read below under Commentaries) became reality, even the pure guess, I guessed about the use of Assab by Ethiopia. Now I am writing this article reading all what have been written in a Reporter by the government of PM Meles (01/05/2001), by the Audit Commission (05/05/01), by the dissident group (03/05/01) and watching the Cadre video and read their resolutions. Most people know about the dissident group’s position, therefore, I will start with the Audit commission’s findings and conclusions..."

Ethiopia: Independent newspaper editor seeks asylum in Sweden
BBC Monitoring Service - United Kingdom; Jun 2, 2001
A top editor of the Reporter newspaper has fled the country and is currently seeking asylum in Sweden, reports reaching us from Sweden have said.
Mr Girmay Berhe, who was one of the top editors next to the chief and deputy chief editors, says he was forced to flee due to the prevailing political feud within the TPLF [Tigray Peoples Liberation Front-main group in the ruling coalition party]. He said the government had started provoking and harassing him for filing a report on the TPLF officials who were expelled from the party...

Shame and follyBy Befiridu Tessema - An Analysis It is naive to expect a politician's speech to be fresh and free, sincere and honest, and unmarred by timorous self-watching and constraint. But even with a down-graded exception of frankness from his lips, one would get the PM's interview this week with Abiotawi Democracy quite boring, vexing and at times wearisome. It is full of unguarded phrases, colorless and non-committal, or carefully tinted totally with the color of contempt and disrespect for those
who oppose him. The Reporter

Meles's coup d'etat - Quoreta by BonapartismBy X-TPLF member, MLeul, Canada
Meles Zenawi's War Against the Nation's Brain
When security forces use excessive force against people who peacefully demonstrate, strike or boycott, it is a gross human rights violation. When, but, the regime lets loose its security forces with the order 'shoot to kill' it is barbaric.
By Kahsay Berhe and Tesfay Atsbeha London
The military was ordered directly by PM Meles, to shoot to kill.
The military should have been well prepared for the worst, to protect themselves and the public from such a riot, by using tear gases and as such. BUT, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SHOOTING & KILLING TO TEACH THEM A LESSON. The shooting of our people is going to continue at any cost for no avail. The Ethiopian people in general, the CC members in particular, should ask PM Meles to resign immediately.

My brothers and sisters did not die in vain. The moral demand will continue to burn in my heart, my grounding is with those who died.
