Ethio-Eritrean Boundary Delimitation: The Irob Case
Irob Community In North America
"We, members of the Irob Community in North America, have studied the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission’s
report announced on April 13, 2002 and present to the Ethiopian people, the Irob community and the Commission
our observations and conclusions about the implications of the decision with regards to the affected
communities and the territorial integrity of the Irob region and Ethiopia."
"There cannot be peace in the region by ceding to Eritrea heavily populated ancient and historical Ethiopian territories
with ancient religious centers. Simply, the people will never accept it. If Eritrea opted for separation
from Ethiopia because the Eritrean people wanted it, if so, let it be. However, Eritrea has to go with what
belongs to it and with those who want to be Eritreans. Leave alone those
who have been always part of the rest of Ethiopia and consistently demonstrated
their determination to remain Ethiopians."

EPRDF'S "ACHIEVEMENTS" IN THE LAST 11 YEARS
It is not surprising to hear the Meles regime applaud what it calls its "achievements" in the
last 11 years (Achievements of past 11 years indicative of bright economic future to Ethiopia:
EPRDF [

inconsistent attempt to intrinsically link the fate of the country with that of the regime's party (EPRDF).

The Afar and Issa Conflict - from an Afar perspective and a response to Dr. Abdulmejid's interview with Addis Tribune
(Posted May 03, 2002)
Afar Association of North America (AANA) [May 29, 2002]:
The recent conflict between the Afar and Issa tribes - the latter being a Somali tribe- is a continuation of a
systematic and carefully orchestrated expansionist policy to achieve a long
sought dream of Great Somalia. The sad aspect of this expansionist policy is
that individuals, such as Dr. Abdulmejid, who have been given a position of
power so as to advance the interests of Ethiopia are doing the exact opposite.
We will give reasons why we strongly believe that Dr. Hussien is not being
objective about this most unfortunate conflict.

Thinking about The Hague Commission's recent Decision
By Dr, Teodros Kiros
Reflecting about the decision at The Hague continues to give me
heartache. The issue is important and daunting, and since it was issued, I have
been reflecting about what to do, how to respond, and what I truly think. I had
once actually decided not to say anything, worried that whatever I say is going
to displease everyone.

International Support for Ethiopia's Right of Access to the Red Sea
By Dr. Jacob Haile-Mariam
"Without Ethiopia's legitimate right of access to the sea, there cannot be
durable peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea. How can a country of 60 million
people be landlocked for the first time in its long history when the sea is only
a walking distance away from its border and hope for peace? How can the peace,
the security and the development of a country be held hostage by another and
hope that there will be peace between the hostage taker and the victim. If
Ethiopia's right of access to the sea is not settled now fairly and judiciously,
to the satisfaction of everyone concerned it will only mean postponing the war
for the next generation. No society willingly brings about its own demise by
allowing itself to be slowly asphyxiated by completely isolating it from the
rest of the world."

Public, government getting polarized
The Reporter
In order to assume state power and to lead a country and a people, it is essential to
have wisdom, loyalty maturity, competence, love for one's country, leadership skills
and qualities, etc.
"When the private print media speak of strengthening the
press, the government accuses it of warmongering and of siding with the
opposition. When the business community complains about the problems facing it,
it is labeled as corrupt, parasitic. Anyone who raises the issue of the port of
Assab is harried for being a warmonger and chauvinistic."
