BY ETHIOPIAN COMMUNITY IN BRITAIN (ECB) [August 23, 2002) The Ethiopian community in Britain noted the above article posted on the website www.eithiopiafirst.com. We could not trace any grain of truth in the allegations put forward by Mulugeta Aserate Kassa to indicate that the Ethiopian Community in Britain is to be implicated ‘of gross dereliction of duty’. By:Loch Othow By A. Mulat August 20, 2002 I happen to read Hailesilasie Girmaye’s poems and other articles out of some interest to literature for quite a while and I must say all of them were not bad. But there was always something that strikes me most in his pieces: his consistency and extreme care not to criticize Ato Meles. Even with his latest postings he has been observed trying hard to convince us that the prize given to the prime minister is a legitimate one.
It is our great pleasure to congratulate you on the
1st anniversary of the founding of the Tigrean
International Solidarity for Justice and Democracy
(TISJD).
By Dr. G. Bekele (August 19, 2002) Perhaps you could help me with a problem. Here I am in Ethiopia – where I was born – and yet, oddly, I have a national government that makes me wake up vomiting; local government officers and regional leaders so twisted their bodily fluids twirl around their interior plumbing like irritating children on aqua slides. And a rather nice and irreplaceable countryside, which are infested with spies for no reason by a federation of satanically greedy and ruthless politicians. They are of course, foreign agents and traitors. By Elias Kifle I was listening and being amused by the repeated false reports and virulent criticisms directed at EDP by EPRP's Hibret Radio and its accomplices, Netsanet Radio "Kokeb" and "Hawaria" newspapers. I'm not amused any more because now their campaign is endangering the lives of the EDP leaders. Tigrian Solidarity (Aug 16, 2002)
Our warm greetings to all of you and congratulations on the
historic contributions you have been tirelessly making since the founding
conference of the TISJD in August 2001.TISJD is just a year old. Yet, the tasks it has been able to accomplish have made it one of the civic organizations that have meaningfully contributed to the protection and promotion of human rights in Ethiopia. Addis Tribune (August 16, 2002):Just a single visit to any of the government hospitals at any time of the day will give one the complete picture of the miserable state of our health institutions, the thorny conditions our doctors work, the suffering of patients due to lack of facilities, and above all, the deep-rooted poverty we are in. The Reporter (August 14, 2002):In the past two to three weeks teachers throughout Ethiopia had been attending conferences on various national issues. Here in the capital, Prime Minster Meles Zenawi has been chairing a meeting of teachers at institutions of higher learning to which the state-owned media have devoted considerable attention. Dr. Beyene Petros and Prof. Merrara Gudina August 25th ![]() Dr Taye in September 2002: Dr. Taye will be speaking at San Jose State University on Saturday at 1 p.m. September 7, 2002 Washington Square Hall 109 San Jose State University Organized by: Ethiopians Discussion Forum SJSU Ethiopian Students Association (SJSU-ESA) Radio Ethiopia Ethiomedia.com, 8 Aug 2002 [Click here to print as word format] In response to Mulugeta Aserate Kassa’s “Kassa Kebede, OLF and Guess Who Else: The dream Team for …”(See Last Paragraph) article posted on Ben’s site. By: Dr. G Bekele (August 9, 2002) THE SON OF RAS ASERATE-KASSA: (As described on Addis Tribune) "His idea of getting hold of the right end of the stick is to snatch it from the hands of somebody who is using it effectively, and to hit him over the head with it.” There is Abew saying in Amharic. “Kesash Yetekesashin Libona Biawuk Noro, Kebetum Balwetta.” Could it be “Set Yelakechiw Mot Ayferam” thing? I am referring to the London Embassy TPLF boss who may have given them orders to attack me one after the other.
By Ethiomedia.com (Deki-Alula.com)The conflict over the ownership of the Ethiopian monastery in Jerusalem, Deir al-Sultan, has even attracted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak who says he will not meet Israeli Prime Minister Netenyahu unless Netenyahu, among other things, hands over the Ethiopian Monastery to the Egyptian Copts. By a Citizen Observer (July 2002) Justice in Ethiopa: "2.2 When Ato Melese officially launched his "anti-corruption" campaign, a year ago; he himself was the commander and the Prime Minster's Office (PMO) the command post. Arrest instructions and search orders were directly issued from the PMO. Members of the special forces (Body guards of the Prime Minister) were deployed to do the job. The courts and the police force were later engaged to formalize the drama. Twelve months down the line; where does the campaign stand now? ..." Does Ethiopia's quintessential war-time hero Seye Abraha deserve Justice and another comeback? By Dr. G. Bekele (August 3, 2002) Whenever I see someone in power I ask myself five questions. Who gave you this power? What did you do to get this power? What are you going to do with this power? To whom are you giving power? And how can we get rid of you? Five crucial questions indeed: ones that, it would have been even more interesting to hear them pose eleven years ago - say, to the Ethiopian people. Time: 7:00 pm Address: 869 Bloor st. By Tadle (August 1, 2002) Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO) recent report shows that, Ethiopia`s unresolved economic, social and political problems have continued to plunge the country deep in to the morass of poverty, hardship, misery and this criticall situation has assumed extremely serious dimensions. By Hayalu Kassa (August 1, 2002) I was astounded to read an announcement on the *Alemseged-Friendly* website of the cyber-jacked Dekialula that Gebru Asrat will be hosting two meetings in London: one for Tigrians, one for the ROE ( rest of Ethiopians). Gebru Asrat could not be oblivious to the harsh criticisms and condemnations that Alemseged is facing because of his divisive approach. Deqi-Alula: July 29, 2002 Today we are confronted by a clique whose tactics to dress up as a legitimate government are no more strange to Ethiopians. It's twenty-four-hour survival strategy is based on how to use one proud part of the Ethiopian community against another, create a sense of uncertainty among Ethiopians, and thereby keep itself neutral while parts of the nation tear each other apart. BY: Dr. G Bekele (25 July 2002) Not long ago Haileselassie Girmay was a dud brand as rusty, in the eyes of Ethiopians who knows him and analysts, as the smokiest boneshaker from the old East European car factory or shall I say Sumale-Terra in Addis Ababa. Now? By Wossen HM (July 24, 2002): I read Asfha's article on Meles Zenawi receiving a purchased "Peace Prize." Asfha's arguments are solid; we need to try to verify before we jump on fanning a news story. However, in this case, it looks Asfha missed the point. By Asfaha Girmay (July 23, 2002) The goal of the institution is "... to train competent leaders capable of serving the nation, the church in the spirit of Christ and to open new frontiers in the vast areas of teaching and learning grounded in a Christian world view." This is the goal of Hannam University that is located in Taejon in the Republic of Korea. By G/Egziabher (July 23, 2002) The future political configuration in Ethiopia seems to have multiple paths. a) EPRDF contemplating coalition with undisclosed opposition. b) EPRDF secretly opening dialogue with TPLF dissidents. c) Revival of Woyane without Meles. Allemseged’s mission. d) Some opposition parties rejecting coalition with EPRDF
