WALLA WALLA, Wash.— “The Politics of Biosafety” will be the topic of the second O’Donnell Lecture on the Whitman campus this academic year when the general manager of Ethiopia’s Environmental Protection Authority visits the college Thursday, Sept. 28.

ADDIS ABABA, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Ethiopia sent five motorboats on Tuesday to deliver food and begin rescuing some 10,000 people stranded after heavy rains caused a river to overflow killing 125 people in the remote south.
That brought the probable death toll from flash floods in Ethiopia to more than 600 people in the last 10 days after two rivers in the south and east of the Horn of Africa nation burst their banks.
