PAY THE PRICE AND INJOY THE FREEDOM!My fellow Countrymen & women, there is no freedom and democracy achieved with out paying the ultimate price in any Country any were on the face of this planet! Those who achieved their freedom and democracy in many parts of the world, we see them now in our time when they enjoy the fruits of their struggle. Ethiopians who are living in western countries share the fruits of this freedom and democracy. I do belief they have a good comparative knowledge and good understanding about the whole process. Anyhow, how can we reach to this level of achievements? The answer is very simple. I belief it is with unity, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, hard work, trust, being responsible etc. The other important element off course we need good Leaders and Government. Without all this, nothing can be achieved. Each Individual must have to ask himself / herself a question. Who am I? This question will lead him/her to examine the history of self. The importance of history cannot be underestimated. The great historical mind " John Henrik Clarke ", gave the most riveting explanation of the value of history when he said, " History is a clock that people use to tell their political and cultural time of day, it is also a compass that people use to find themselves on the map of human geography. The role of history is to tell a people what they have been, and what they are, and where they are. The most important role that history plays is that it has the function of telling a people where they still must go and what they still must be! History should tell a person who they are, where they came from, and what their potential is as a people! "My fellow country men and women, The wide spread perception of Ethiopia as a hopeless country ravaged by wars, famine and other human tragedies after all, there is the good, the bad and the ugly in every thing we do in this world. The negative developments that we see in Ethiopia today should not overshadow the positive ones! To show only the negative side is what we find offensive, like in the resent article, which was posted in many Ethiopian web sites under the title " Ethiopia, an Embarrassment to Africa " by a Nigerian Citizen named Idang Alibi who don’t know how to express his view in a respectful manner. But we Ethiopians must have to expose the other side (the good) about Ethiopia: the Culture, the beauty, the History and the business opportunities. We must have to start from racial pride! The Jews, the Chinese and Japanese started off with racial pride after the World War II! That’s what gave them their unity, solidarity, love and discipline. If Ethiopians, first of all, do not recognize Ethiopia, and we are not moving Ethiopia forward, then one has reduced the prospect of racial pride! As we all know, Ethiopia is one of the oldest Country in the world and Ethiopia is the home for more than 70 different language groups of people. This is one of the reasons that makes as beautiful and unlike in the world. All this group of people they inter-married and lived side by side for centuries. They share good and bad times together. They fought each other for centuries. But when outside enemy attack them, they put their differences aside and stand together to challenge the enemy. The best example of our unity is demonstrated at the battle of Adwa that shook the European powers and gave hope for colonized Africans. The importance of unity must have to be learned from the battle of Adwa by all Ethiopians. We are dying from aids, Why not we die for our freedom and democracy?
Is it not time / is there a better time, to come together and live our differences aside to challenge both internal and external enemies? I think it is the right time to come together hand in hand to challenge our oppressor’s as well as their collaborators and bring them to justice before it is too late! This evil force in our Country must have to be removed by any means necessary! We don’t have to expect United Nation or somebody to do the job for us. We have the power and God given right to do what is right for us. It is our own wickedness that gives strength to our oppressors and enemies.First we unite, and then we act. When we act, there is a price to pay. That price will be the ultimate price, which will lead us to victory. Then after victory we will enjoy the freedom and democracy! Every Ethiopian must have to ask him/her self the final question to save our beloved Country. The question will be am I ready to pay the price??????? Ethiopia needs her children those who act not those who dream in their sleeping state! By Tedla Back to main page! |
