Ethiopians will Hold Public Demonstrations
San Jose, CA- September 29, 2003-Ethiopians in the San Francisco Bay Area will hold public demonstrations in San Jose and San Mateo to protest against the border demarcation between Ethiopia and Eritrea scheduled to begin next month. The scheduled border demarcation and delimitation between the two countries will be the final implementation of the skewed Algiers agreement. The demonstrations will be held on October 3rd, 2003 at two different locations. Beginning at 10:00AM the first part of the demonstration will take place in front of Congressman Tom Lantos' San Mateo office at 400 South El Camino Real in San Mateo, CA. The second protest will be staged at 1:00PM in the city of San Jose at Cesar Chavez Park, in front of Fermont Hotel. From there the demonstrators will walk to the nearby Federal Building to deliver protest letter to the U.S. Government. The organizing committee of the demonstration--the Ethiopian Discussion Forum, Radio Ethiopia and Bay Area UEDF Support Committee call on all Ethiopians in the Bay Area to participate and raise their voice against the planned transfer of Ethiopian territory to Eritrea. Our strong voice will surely send a clear message to the dictatorial regime of Meles Zenawi as well as to its foreign supporters that the Ethiopian mass will not accept the illegal and sinister plans to parcel and divide Ethiopia further. The only way that the U.S. Administration will heed the repeated demands of the Ethiopian people to stop supporting the dictatorial and illegitimate regime of Meles Zenaiw is by standing together and raising our voice in unison. We call on all patriotic Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia to urge their friends, relatives, and family members to join us in this historic demonstration. Your presence and participation will strengthen the voice of the opposition at home and abroad and give meaning to the worldwide demonstration against the Meles regime on October 3, 2003. This is the least we can do to tell the world that Meles and his regime do not represent the interest of Ethiopia. Be part of history in the making! Stand and be counted against unjust border demarcation! ETHIOPIA STRETCHES ITS HANDS TOWARDS ITS CHILDREN. THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO ANSWER THE CALL.
