Speak Up, Expose...
By Zeleke W.A. I have been following the recent exchange of views initiated by Dr. G. Bekele's article on Tigrai Net in relation to the distraction of Ethiopia and its people caused by the colonial-style administration of Meles and his cronies for the last eleven years. While impressed by the messages of Dr. Bekele's article, I am particularly encouraged to see the responses by both Dr. Bekele and Getachew Reda geared towards exposing the subtle venomous views of a certain individual named Tsegay. From the responses provided by these two gentlemen, I, personally, have learnt something important about Tsegay and his likes who have adapted a certain style of contaminating and discrediting the noble views and deeds of genuine and patriotic Ethiopians. Consequently, Tsegay is now categorized as an anti-Ethiopia in my book, unless disproved otherwise. This is a serious matter for me and I believe that it is also serious for the Ethiopian people who have suffered so much by these kind of people. I have read most of the recent articles by Getachew Reda on the Internet and Hawarya newspapers, and also listed to one of them on Finote Democracy radio. I should say that Getachew Reda has won my trust as far as Ethiopia is concerned and I believe whatever he writes about the motives and political views of personalities such as Tsegay. That being said, I would like to take this opportunity of expressing my view that speaking up about personalities who, directly or indirectly, can affect the lives of the Ethiopian people is very important. I strongly believe that bad people (I mean, people who are against the interests of the Ethiopian people) should be exposed and known by the Ethiopian people. This should be done as early as possible when information about them is available. Delay in exposing them would mean allowing more damage to be done by the enemies of the people, which may be difficult to be reversed later on. The information disseminated about them can allow the people to differentiate who is with them and who is not. In other words, it can provide the people the opportunity to know their friends or foes and alien themselves accordingly. In this way, the Ethiopian people can protect themselves from potential enemies early enough. Except for the high profile evil doers, individuals who happen to know the personalities in question can obtain and report this kind of information. The reporting of such information should, however, be viewed as a major responsibility and must be conducted as honestly and accurately as possible. Friendship, ethnicity or some sort of mutual interest should not influence it. It should rather be based on the principle of right and wrong. Any other short cuts or alternatives cannot serve the purpose and will not work, as can be witnessed from what is going on in the country. Let us face it, who knows what would have happened if the current and previous members and supports of the present ruling Mafia clique in Addis Abeba were more effectively exposed to the Ethiopian people early enough by all of those who knew more about them? I think that every concerned Ethiopian should take this challenge as part his/her new responsibilities as a citizen and make every effort to expose the enemies of the country. It does not matter whether they are big or small, or home grown or foreign since all their activities are targeting towards the same goal-destruction of the country. Every attempt should be made to isolate and outcast such individuals as enemies of the people and the country. Exposing the enemies of the people is an important step forward and should be considered a great contribution. This measure should not be taken as a personal attack or character assassination as some supporters of the antiEthiopia regime want to confuse us with their usual but old treacherous and deceptive acts. It should be considered as a measure taken simply to save Ethiopia and protect the interests of the Ethiopian people. This effort can ultimately have a cumulative effect on the whole system of government and political conditions of the country. We see this kind of revelation happening every day in Western democratic societies such as in the US. Then, why not in Ethiopia where the process is badly needed? Thanks to the Internet; at least we have one important means for doing this. Similarly, the Ethiopian people should recognize good people who are concerned about their country and people and offering positive contributions. If we look carefully, there are many of them around us. Disseminating the necessary information about these Ethiopians to the people can do the job and this can be done in many ways. We have to talk and write about these individuals more aggressively. We should support and celebrate them in every way possible. We should not let their genuine love of country and people as well as talent and ability passed by unused by the Ethiopian people. These individuals are ready to go extra miles to serve the country and the people. Their goal and reward are the success of the Ethiopian people. They can serve as role models and give hope to the people. They have the ability to organize the people for good causes and, as such, can play leadership roles. Since they are the archenemies of the enemies of the Ethiopian people, they are the allies of the people. Because of this, they need protection from nowhere but the people. Knowing more about them can be helpful for providing the protection that may be needed. In short, recognizing and helping these Ethiopians is like helping oneself and, therefore, the Ethiopian people need to know more about them too. Back to main page! |
