Gebru Asrat: Beware of the Agents of Division!!

By Hayalu Kassa

I was astounded to read an announcement on the *Alemseged-Friendly* website of the cyber-jacked Dekialula that Gebru Asrat will be hosting two meetings in London: one for Tigrians, one for the ROE ( rest of Ethiopians). Gebru Asrat could not be oblivious to the harsh criticisms and condemnations that Alemseged is facing because of his divisive approach. We all know how arrogant the *know-it-all* TPLF leaders are, and I do not expect Gebru Asrat to heed my advice. Nonetheless, I find it essential for him to hear what Ethiopians in general think of the repeatedly divisive venture of both sides of the TPLF.

Time restricts me too put too many words to this cautionary message of mine.

In brief, Gebru Asrat must know that he, his colleagues and his organization TPLF have done an irreparable damage to the country. Their policy has crated mayhem and destruction in Tigray. Consequently, he must know that, while Ethiopia and Ethiopians are willing and able to *pardon* his wrongs as long as he repents his past, it is clear that TPLF as an organizations will not see a light of day as far as Ethiopia is concerned. In fact, to try to resurrect this beast (TPLF) is an affront to the Ethiopian people.

Gebru must know too, that Ethiopians are ready to listen to him, to hear him repent his past, to allow him to be part of the struggle to save Ethiopia, but they will never condone his divisive approach a la Alemseged.

Who, with a sinister mind, is advising the former TPLF leaders (*dissidents*) that Tigrians have a different agenda to the rest of Ethiopians? Who is telling them that Tigrians do not speak Amharic, therefore they need their own Tigrigna sessions? Why is it essential to have a meeting one for the Tigrians and another for the rest of Ethiopians? Who told them that the rest of Ethiopians do not need a separate session in their own languages? If so is Gebru going to deliver with those languages, or are these poor Ethiopians whose languages his excellency does not speak will remain abandoned?

It is all foolish and senseless. Foolish for all that think rationally and want to see something good to come out of this. But it maybe a calculated move to widen the division that genuine Ethiopians are thriving to narrow.

My honest advice to Gebru is this.

Do not play into the hands of Meles. See yourself into the mirror and confront the arrogant attitude that is a trade mark of all TPLF leaders. You have nothing to gain by sticking to the old habits of narrow views. You have already lost what you have in terms of power and fortune. But you have an important thing to protect: your dignity. What is expected of you is to be truthful to yourself. If I were you, I would rather sleep in the streets of London rather than succumb to Meles thugs* handouts.

Do not be part of a divisive scheme. You must know that this is a scheme ( the dissident*s tour - I don*t know if you are part of it) to divide Ethiopians along ethnic lines. The choice is yours. Either you strive to protect the very little sympathy you got rom Ethiopians when you supposedly stood against*s Meles* sellout policy, or you go to your old role as a member of agents of destruction- a cursed group that has reigned upon Ethiopia.

If I were you I would resist the ethnicist mentality, and address all Ethiopians, regardless of ethnicity, in one auditorium, under one Ethiopian umbrella. This is the least you can do to yourself and your country. For once, listen to the voice of reason. It is time that even the most inept has to learn from past experiences.
