Mr. Kofi Annan,
Dear Secretary General, As your Excellency may note in the mid 1930s the League of Nations failed to respond positively to the appeal that was made by Ethiopia, a vulnerable member nation of the League, in protection of its independence that was violated by Italy, which was another member nation of the League but a supreme power. The LN not only ignored the petition and let the strong invade the weak but also declined to condemn Italy who used the prohibited biological weapon (mustard bomb) in its war of aggression. As a result of this failure, the forces of the invading Facist Italy massacred millions and millions of Ethiopians. Yet, the gallant patriots of Ethiopia did not give up their independence. In spite of the heavy sacrifices that claimed the lives of millions of innocent Ethiopians, they fought for their freedom until the evil forces of aggression were driven out of the sacred land of Ethiopia. There is no doubt that many of our patriots died but the aggressive Italian forces did not survive. There is no doubt that our brave men sacrificed their dear lives but the independence of Ethiopia glorified their blood. Upon the sacrifice of its gallant children the Independence of Ethiopia continued to illuminate the torch of Independence for other African Nations to rise against the evils of Colonialism. Whilst this was a pride to those who fought to smash the yoke of slavery, it was grief and regret to those who neutralized themselves being afraid of the consequences of their involvements in this issue. In the words of President L. B. Johnson of the United States, "…the second world war would not have occurred, if the world had listened to the great prophet…." (Haile Selassie I, who submitted the appeal on behalf of the People of Ethiopia). For those who lost the game naturally it was a curse and shame to loose t heir control over the oppressed nations of Africa. Because of this and other factors, Ethiopia was and still is forced to remain at bay in the teeth of those who denied accepting its appeal at the wake of the Second World War. Time and time again these powers directly or indirectly interfered in the internal affairs of Ethiopia to revenge the shame and despair they wore in their history of aggression and exploitation. It was, however, in 1993 that Ethiopia failed once again in the hands of these concealed aggressors who now succeeded in recruiting and copying some of our own brothers in their image and brought them into power. Accordingly, for the first time in the history of man kind, Meles Zenawi, the so called President of Ethiopia stood as a Head of State that recognized the secession of a State from a country led by himself. The man from the historic enemy of Ethiopia and the then Secretary of the UN, Butros Butros Galley hustled to bring about the dismemberment of Ethiopia. In cooperation with the EPRDF led Transitional Government that gave the blessings of the secession of Eritrea and standing firmly by the side of Eritrea Gorilla Fighters, who now meet the American definition of "Terrorism", "Terrorists" and "Al- qaedaism" as their trainers the "Al qaeda", the underground "Bin Laden", Butros Butros Galley, swiftly arranged the recognition of Eritrea as a free State and member of the United Nations. The World is cheated once again. Had the World fought Butros B. Galley at that alarming moment Binladden would not have been successful in bombing the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Once again the task of fighting Butros B. Galley, the World enemy number one, was left to the people of Ethiopia. Galley was challenged with angry Ethiopians who demonstrated against his visit to the UNECA in Addis Ababa. During the demonstration, EPRDF forces killed a number of young Ethiopians most of whom were students at the Addis Ababa University. As usual the opposition Parties submitted their petitions on behalf of the people of Ethiopia demanding the UN not to recognize the secession of Eritrea. The UN again failed to listen to the call made by the people of Ethiopia to preserve their national unity and territorial integrity. This failure again ended in the death toll of not less than fifty thousand lives in the May 1998 war erupted between the EPRDF forces and Eritrea's who once toiled hands and gloves against the interest of Ethiopia. However, as written in the big book that "Ethiopia streachth its hands unto God", those who toiled against Ethiopia had to pay the price that Mussolini did at the end of World War II. (Mussolini was hanged head down by his own people). Those who killed innocent Ethiopians had to die out of their own bullets fighting each other. The regretting part however is that some more innocent lives had to be sacrificed in this bloody war.
Your Excellency, The People of Ethiopia have repeatedly demonstrated their objection to this agreement as it fails to include Ethiopia's right of access to the sea. Suffice is to note the recent demonstrations in Addis Ababa, where the UNECA is Headquartered and suffice is to consider the tens of thousands of signatures submitted to the attention of your excellency appealing for the rightful possession of Ethiopia's access to the sea. It is well known that the Asab Port has never been a part of Eritrea before the Italians bought the port from Sultan Ibrahim, the Sultanet of Afar far field the colonization of Eritrea. Afar which is now part and parcel of Ethiopia is the real owner of Port Assab. There is no doubt that to day Ethiopia is being ruled by a government that does not protect its national interest. The current Government of Ethiopia has demonstrated its failure to protect the national interest of our country by assisting the secession of Eritrea in 1993 and now by forfeighting the Port of Assab in favor of Eritrea and land locking Ethiopia. Ethiopia is now made a Land locked country by Meles Zenawi's EPRDF as was made by Mussolini's Fascist Party just before the wake of the Second World War. However all these do not mean that Ethiopia has no gallant children that die for her welfare in time of need. Excellency, I desperately request you to avoid any mistakes that may occur by ignoring the call of my fellow Ethiopians for justice and righteousness for the 3rd time in the history of the greatest world body, the United Nations. I certainly have no doubt that there will be no peace in the area if Ethiopia is denied its rightful access to the sea. The rights and Interests of Ethiopia may not be protected right at this moment but will remain a task for the coming generation. Let us not keep fire under cover and burn the innocent generation that is coming forth.
Best regards,
