Meles Zenawi's traitorous regime must be removed!Press Release April 29, 2002 Washington DC An All-Inclusive Transitional Government of National Unity Now! We, the undersigned political and civic organizations inside and outside of Ethiopia, hereby call on Ethiopians inside the county and around the world to support the mass demonstrations on May 13 in Washington, DC, May 19 in London, and subsequent mass actions nationally and internationally that demand the removal of Meles Zenawi's ethno centered dictatorial regime. Since its usurpation of state power 11 years ago through the barrel of the gun, the TPLF/EPRDF dictatorial regime of Meles Zenawi has compromised Ethiopia’s national interest, perpetrated state-sponsored terrorism against the Ethiopian people, and significantly weakened the social fabric of the Ethiopian nation through the introduction of its ethnic-based divisive policies. Once again, the treasonous Meles regime played the role of Eritrea's liberator, defense attorney, and witness. The regime provided the key testimony as to why Tsorona and other areas belonged to Eritrea. The regime is lying to the Ethiopian people by telling that Ethiopians have benefited from the decision of The Hague Ethio-Eritrea Border Commission. While the truth of the matter is that Eritrea has gained thousands of square kilometers of additional land. The Meles regime, however, is attempting to use the inclusion of small towns like Zalanbessa in Ethiopia to hoodwink Ethiopian public opinion. Ethiopians are fed-up of his white lies. Ethiopians know the root cause of their entire problem is the nature, the policies, and practice of the TPLF divisive regime. Therefore, the remedy is nothing else but removal of the Meles ethnocentered Dictatorship. It is time that we come together in one, unified voice -- both inside and outside the country -- to say 'No More!', “Enough is Enough!” to this hated, most despised and treasonous regime. To that end: We call upon all patriotic Ethiopians around the world to support the mass demonstrations on May 13 in Washington DC, and May 19 in London, as they are integral parts of a worldwide movement to remove the anti-Ethiopia dictatorship and replace it with an all-inclusive transitional government of national unity. It is the duty of every patriotic citizen to support and mobilize towards this national objective. We call on labor unions, professional associations, religious leaders, civic groups and all other sectors of the Ethiopian society to join hands in the struggle to end the bloody era of Meles Zenawi's TPLF/EPRDF regime. We call on all patriotic forces within the military institutions to refrain from becoming instruments of this traitorous dictatorial regime that has brought division, national humiliation and devastation to our country and its people. We also call upon patriotic members within the EPRDF-dominated parliament to reject The Hague decision, which failed to consider Ethiopia's legitimate interests and rights, and start a proceeding to remove the Meles regime from power for its treasonous conduct and for collaborating with Ethiopia’s external enemies to deny her sovereignty over the Red Sea coast. It must be noted that any member of the parliament who relegates his or her responsibility to come to the rescue of our motherland is committing treason, and will therefore be judged accordingly by the Ethiopian people and history. Furthermore, we call upon all Ethiopian scholars, professionals, and the public at large, to lobby the international community to disengage all economic, diplomatic, and other forms of support to the divisive and ethnicist TPLF/EPRF dictatorial regime of Meles Zenawi.
