The tragic events of September 11, 2001, have exacted a horrific toll of death and destruction. Among those affected are also members of the Ethiopian American Community. Dr. Yeneneh Betru was one individual aboard Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon. Scores of others are still declared missing in the debris of the World Trade Center. We mourn the loss of our cherished contributors and fellow American citizens. Our hearts go out to everyone nationwide who bear the pain of this dreadful experience. Our prayers and condolences are extended to the victims and their families. We are also confident that those who committed these despicable acts of terror and horror will be brought to justice. The Ethiopian American community in US, as always, will stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the American public in the days ahead. We urge all Ethiopian Americans to get involved in the search and rescue effort by donating blood through organizations like the American Red Cross, as well as donating money to the Salvation Army and other established relief programs to help the city of New York at this very difficult time. God Bless America,
