Tigrai.net has been hijacked since March 31, 2001
Tigrai.Net is a nonpolitical organization, was founded in August 2000 by a group of Tigrians and later able to launch its first web site work in August 2000 (Tigrai.net website address was- http://www.geocities.com/tigrayState). As a group we believe that the Internet technology makes the world smaller and smaller. The ability to communicate and exchange information and across distance has enabled more individuals to participate in the cyber technology regardless of their location. As a result our site purpose was to foster educational and benevolent activities, to preserve and advance the Ethiopia culture, customs, and language using this Internet technology.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the UN protect our freedom of speech and expression. Tigrai.Net believes that we all have inalienable rights to think freely, to talk freely, and to write our own opinions freely and to counter or write upon the opinions of others. At the same time, Tigrai.net respect other’s copyrights and freedom of expression. However, recently Yahoo - Geocities, our web host provider violates our freedom of speech and expression by removing or blocking Tigrai.net for the reason, which is not clear for us. We tried to contact the Geocities web hosting and we got nothing but deaf ear. Since we are not having an answer why our website is suspended, we would like to inform our readers that our freedom of expression and speech is taking away by Geocities and the group who influenced Geocities to shot down our web site. Currently we are in the process of pursing legal action against Geocities. In the mean time, we would like to ask our readers to help us in providing petition to Geocities why they blocked our web site. Let’s tell them that it is a shame when they violated our freedom of expression in this free country. Let’s tell them that no matter what power and money they have our Constitutional First Amendment must not be violated by them.

As we speak, there are rumors coming from Ethiopia that the Prime Minister office of Ethiopia worked tirelessly in all corner of the globe to block any Information sectors. If these rumors were true, we would like to inform the Prime Minister office to STOP this unethical and illegal action upon others and us. In addition to this, as we specified at beginning of this letter, we would like to clear for everyone that we are not supporters of any political group or organization. Tigrai.net advocates building a democracy nation of Ethiopia. Finally, we would like to inform our readers that we are going to launch Tigrai.net very soon.
