A call
to action!
Our country has many serious problems, some of those are: Illiteracy, backwardness,
Poverty, and intolerance. These are difficult challenges, but working together, we can
overcome them. The more organizations share resources and experience, the more
effectively solve such kind of problems. The more organizations share resources and
experience, the more efficient and effective they will become. By sharing our
experiences, we can learn from both our failure and success.
As a member Ethiopian community Tigrai_net was founded in January 2000 by a group of
Tigrai origin Ethiopian students and professionals and it was able to launch its first
on-line work in August 2000. Tigrai_net believe that the Internet technology makes
the world smaller and smaller. The ability to communicate and exchange information and
across distance has enabled more individuals to participate in the cyber technology and
building a nation toward development regardless of their locations. As a result our site
purpose is to foster educational, and benevolent activities, to preserve and advance
the Ethiopia culture, customs, and language using this Internet technology.
For the last two and half years, headed by a volunteer boards of directors, Tigrai_net
has been providing educational, humanitarian, social, historical, and political issues
to Ethiopian community in the Diaspora and inside Ethiopia.
Moreover:
- TigrayNet has been advocated in enhancing and improving the image of Ethiopia
educationally, politically, economically and socially.
- TigrayNet has been encouraged global participation, provided a forum for discussion and raised awareness on the Internet.
- At the time of the TPLF split and then, Tigrai.net partially focused on political and
national issues of Ethiopia and provided a discussion forum and writers café to its
netters to exchange ideas freely and openly.
Recently we have conducted a survey regardless of our site performance through out the
last two and half years and we have got a greatest constructive comments and ideas which
help how we can improve our news and information site.
Thereupon, we TigrayNet board of directors analyzed the survey and we have decided that,
as of Today March 9, 2003, Tigray.net aims to serve the Ethiopia community in the areas
of EDUCATION, TECHNOLOGY, and
ECONOMY. However our NEWS SECTION will continue as it is.
Especially in the aspect of education and technology tigrai_net provide leadership in
educational communications and technology by linking professionals holding a common
interest in the use of education technology and its application to the learning
process.
We support the development of technology and appropriately skilled people for industry
to improve Ethiopia’s global competitiveness. TigraiNet performs such kind of task by
providing resources and mechanisms in support in the areas of technology, Economy and
education; and contribute to the increase in the number and quality of people with
appropriate technological skills for industry. Here we call on Ethiopian professionals
as all levels to work with educational institutions and the private sector to support
the continuous growth of educators through the use of technology. We call upon the
public and private sectors to join forces in developing Ethiopian educational
system,
technology, and industry.
